DON'T DROP THE BALL!

Catch the blessings of God

Picture
Picture
Growing up my Father was incarcerated the majority of my childhood and adolesence so I do not have fond "Son and Dad" Memories like being in the yard tossing the basketball or football, But as I mature and continue to grow in spirit I think of all the times my Father God played catch with me throughout my life. He Threw favor my way in periless situations, He tossed Grace and Mercy my direction while I chose to walk in the world....... constantly passing my the ball even when I did not want it in my hand - batting it down, letting it fall, yet still He picked it back up like a father does encouraging me to try again - Saying with kindness to me, "Son, Just hold on to the ball" Whatever the reason you are refusing to catch the knowledge, wisdom and even the warning from God Team OGS comes to stand in agreement with you that you shall seek a straight way path to Father's Love and Guidance - Even in correction. Accountability is key..... Acceptance (of His will) is mandatory. Together, let us pray ye one another that with open arms we shall continue to trust, believe, and with faith catch everything God throws our way... and

Jesus is the way, truth and life....... PEACE AND BLESSINGS
6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Spiritually Dead

In this day and time it can be so disheartening to bear witness to the separation and lack of love shown amongst the living, yet at the passing or the loss of a relative or loved one we shower them with thoughtful and expressive kind words for someone else's ears to hear and of course there is nothing wrong with displaying our compassionate and sympathetic nature... what is wrong is our timing. As I prayed and meditated asking God to heal us from this He brought a familiar passage to my recollection, One of the few places in the bible that naysayers and those of unbelief depict Jesus as cold and of no care and thoughtfulness with his wording when once again the Messiah was speaking a parable to us... but today I speak it plain..... LOVE EVERYONE ALIVE! for we can bring no one to his Grace, Mercy, and Salvation walking in "Spiritual Death" And even in the physical, although you may mourn... REJOICE! Because to be absent from the body is to be in the presence of the Lord if You have chosen to live in HIS will and walk in HIS ways. The Good Works do not stop for death is promised..... we must press our way and direct our love to every sheep who needs to be directed towards the path that leads back to "The Good Shepherd" Christ Jesus our savior, for We have placed our hand on the Gospel  as Ambassadors.....
Whether you accept it..... Or Not

Below is a interesting read which dives further with question and answer to the scriptures both found In Matthew and Luke. I hope you enjoy, God Bless and Love on everybody you can in this hour so you never have to assume they know it! #TeamOGS

What did Jesus mean when He said "Let the dead bury the dead" (Luke 9:60)?

Jesus said, “Let the dead bury the dead,” in response to a disciple who wanted to spend time at home before committing himself to the Lord. Jesus said, “‘Follow me.’ But the man replied, ‘Lord, first let me go and bury my father.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God’” (Luke 9:59–60). This man may have wanted to fulfill the oldest son’s duty to bury the father, to be near the father in order to obtain an inheritance, or to remain near the body of his father for up to one year to rebury the bones, a practice of some Jews at the time. In any event, Jesus’ answer makes clear that this request would have involved putting tradition or the disciple’s own desires ahead of serving Jesus.

But who are “the dead” whom Jesus referred to as being the ones to bury their own dead? The word dead is used in this passage in two different senses. It is apparently a paradox and is used very effectively. The Jews used the word dead often to express indifference toward a thing or to express that something has no influence over us. To be dead to the law (Romans 7:4), to be dead to sin (Romans 6:11), means that the law and sin have no influence or control over us. We are free from them and act as though they are not.

So people of the world are dead to Christ. They do not see His beauty, nor do they hear His voice or desire to follow Him. Only His “sheep” will do those things (John 10:27). The people of the world are those whom the Savior describes here as the (spiritually) dead who should bury the (physically) dead. Let people, He says, who are not interested in My work, and who are “dead in sin” (Ephesians 2:1), take care of the dead. Your duty is now to follow Me.

While Scripture, and Jesus, are clear that we are to honor our parents (Ephesians 6:2), we have to understand that Jesus is to come first, and this would have been especially so in this instance, that is, with a direct command from the Lord. Peter, Andrew, James, John, and Matthew recognized the Lord and followed Him at once (Matthew 4:18–22; 9:9). The thing to which the man who wanted to bury his father was called was of more importance than any earthly consideration, and, for that time, Christ chose to require of the man a very extraordinary sacrifice to show his sincere attachment to Him.

As regards the people of the world, nothing is more important than responding to the gospel. This requires that the gospel be preached (Romans 10:14), so once we make the decision to follow Jesus and preach His good news, we must deny dead, worldly pursuits and comforts, and do the Lord’s work. Jesus wants followers, not professors, and those who are spiritually alive will be instruments in the Lord’s hands to call others to new life in Christ.

Before God justified you, you were helpless, ungodly, and God’s enemy. In that state, Jesus died for you. Paul says “If, when we were at our worst, we were put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son, now that we’re at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and deepen by means of his resurrection life!”
Is it presumptuous to fully know you are saved? Absolutely not! It is written throughout the Scripture that God wants you to have the assurance of knowing you are saved so that not only can you be secured in your salvation but assured.
The problem is knowing a point of reference. If someone asks you, “How do you know you’re saved?” Many do not know how to answer. They say things like “I feel His presence.” “I feel the Holy Spirit bearing fruit.” “Things are great.” But what happens if things are not so great? What happens during seasons that you see no fruit? Seasons in which you do not feel His presence. Those seasons may take you to dark places. You may blame God and distance from Him when the point of reference is yourself based on how well you’re doing. This is a terrible point of reference. Yes, God’s work in your life is confirmation of salvation. However, He never intends for salvation to be based on your performance.
Your assurance and security are based on God’s ability to make and keep a promise. God says that when you trust in Jesus, He will save you. We know we are saved because God made a promise. You are secured in Jesus Christ because of the power of God, not your standard of holiness. And you are assured of your salvation because of the promise of God, not because of your performance.
You may be wondering if good works are important. What about holiness and obedience? What about the things God asks us to do? Yes, they are critical, but they do not earn your salvation. Good works flow in gratitude and obedience out of your justification. That’s how you become more like Jesus. A Christian should not be foolish and willfully sin. You cannot abuse of God’s grace without consequence. Paul says you are God’s workmanship, created in Christ for good works so that you would walk in them. Grace is the seed of spiritual growth.
God does not want you to live with fear, doubt, or insecurity. All that needs to be accomplished has already been done in Jesus Christ. When He said on the cross, “It is finished,” He meant it. If you slip, He’s got you. He will hold you. You can be assured and secured in that. That’s the way He wants His children to live. It’s a gift of God’s grace.

GROWING A HEALTHY CHURCH Pt 10

Healthy Churches Excel More

Let’s summarize the characteristics of healthy churches we’ve read about in God’s Word over the past few days.
Healthy churches:
  • Follow the blueprint
  • Live out unity
  • Give
  • Produce good fruit
  • Grow and reproduce
  • Are full of ministers
  • Are fun and attractive
  • Keep the first thing first
Wow, that list should make you excited about growing a healthy church! But, it’s incomplete. There’s one more characteristic that healthy churches possess. A healthy church not only continues their healthy ways. Instead, they excel in them even more. They constantly ask themselves how they can be better, grow stronger, and love deeper.
There’s a strong drive and passion to push further, not for their own glory, but for God’s. Healthy churches truly believe there are more people to reach for Christ. More opportunities to give. Stronger unity to live out. More churches to plant. More leaders to equip. More of God to know and share. They excel still more.
Let’s strive to grow a healthy church where people are changed and communities are transformed, all for God’s glory.
As you read today’s scriptures, be encouraged to not only continue what God’s Word calls you to do, but to excel even more. As long as you have breath in your lungs, God has more to do in you and through you.

Scriptures :

1 Thessalonians 4:1 AMPV
Finally, believers, we ask and admonish you in the Lord Jesus, that you follow the instruction that you received from us about how you ought to walk and please God (just as you are actually doing) and that you excel even more and more [pursuing a life of purpose and living in a way that expresses gratitude to God for your salvation].

1Thessalonians 4:9-10
Now concerning brotherly love, you have no need for anyone to write you, for you have been [personally] taught by God to love one another [that is, to have an unselfish concern for others and to do things for their benefit]. For indeed you already do practice it toward all the believers throughout Macedonia [by actively displaying your love and concern for them]. But we urge you, brothers and sisters, that you excel [in this matter] more and more,

Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.

GROWING A HEALTHY CHURCH Pt 9

Healthy Churches Keep First Things First

The ultimate goal of the church is not growth, great environments, or effectiveness. The ultimate goal of the church is to bring God glory. Everything is for His glory.
Healthy churches keep first things first. They passionately seek God. They are not driven by programs or numbers or accolades, but use them as they are driven by the Spirit of God and making Jesus’ name known. They are seeking God’s glory to be revealed through them. They are hungry to know God more. They understand that the Gospel is not ultimately about us, but it is about God. They constantly fight to keep first things first.
We see the first-hand struggle of doing for Jesus versus being with Jesus in Luke 10. This well-known story of Mary and her sister, Martha, stills speaks to us today about the need to keep our relationship with Jesus primary to our mission for Jesus.
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42
Don’t busy yourself so much with God’s work that you forget to be in His presence.
As you read today’s scriptures, remember that you’re a follower of Christ first and foremost. Your ultimate goal is to know God and make Him known, all for His glory!

Scriptures :

Luke 10:38-42 AMPV

Now while they were on their way, Jesus entered a village [called Bethany], and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lord’s feet and was continually listening to His teaching. But Martha was very busy and distracted with all of her serving responsibilities; and she approached Him and said, “Lord, is it of no concern to You that my sister has left me to do the serving alone? Tell her to help me and do her part.” But the Lord replied to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered and anxious about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part [that which is to her advantage], which will not be taken away from her.”

Matthew 6:33 AMPV
But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right--the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

Philippians 3:8-11 AMPV
But more than that, I count everything as loss compared to the priceless privilege and supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord [and of growing more deeply and thoroughly acquainted with Him--a joy unequaled]. For His sake I have lost everything, and I consider it all garbage, so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him [believing and relying on Him], not having any righteousness of my own derived from [my obedience to] the Law and its rituals, but [possessing] that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith. And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did]; so that I may attain to the resurrection [that will raise me] from the dead.

Ephesians 3:18-19 AMPV
be fully capable of comprehending with all the saints (God’s people) the width and length and height and depth of His love [fully experiencing that amazing, endless love]; and [that you may come] to know [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience], that you may be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself].

Psalms 96:3-8 AMPV
Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works and wonderful deeds among all the peoples. For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are [worthless, lifeless] idols, But the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him; Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary. Ascribe to the Lord , O families of the peoples, Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory of His name; Bring an offering and come into His courts.

Isaiah 43:7 AMPV
Everyone who is called by My Name, Whom I have created for My glory, Whom I have formed, even whom I have made.”
