Have you been hurt by a church? If so, you’re not alone. I’ve heard stories from people who have found church confusing, contrarian, or even damaging. Not every church hurts people, but most churches have hurt someone at some point. Some people are hurt through their own mistakes, others because of sin committed against them, and still others because of failed leadership. This reality can leave them reluctant to re-engage, afraid of being hurt again, wanting to protect themselves, and questioning the place of church in their lives. The good news for the hurting is that God has spoken to your pain in the Bible.
Most of the writing in the New Testament about how to live in a church exists because the church has never been perfect. Most, if not all, of the letters were written to solve problems in the church: -- Galatians to solve legalism (Galatians 1:6–7, 3:1–3, 4:9, 5:1). -- Colossians to solve heresy (Colossians 2:4, 8). -- 2 Timothy to solve tension in succession (2 Timothy 4:9–16). -- Philippians to solve conflict and selfish ambition (Philippians 2:3–22). --1 and 2 Corinthians to solve a whole host of problems centered around the issues of human pride in gifting and speaking that led to loveless and arrogant religious activity. --And that’s not even to mention the letters to the churches in Revelation (chapters 2–3), one of which is so unhealthy, it makes Jesus want to vomit (Revelation 3:16). What types of experiences have encountered dealing with "Church Hurt?" And how did you resolve the problem?

Church Hurt is real........ Yet not always on purpose. What we must do as leaders is address one another of our position and our purpose. .... and that's to bring others to Christ. THANK GOD 4 THE BLOOD! Because of it I can overcome any obstacles, disappointment, and adversity that may come my way...... GLORY,HALLELUJAH! #Agope ♡♡♡♡♡

I presently found a church home after searching for years since my children where babies now their teenagers 2 about to graduate from high school this year. I was hurt from being judged by people in the church more importantly at that time the pastor judged me. I was young 4 kids 2 fathers one whom I was married to but he did not attend church services and I had tattoos which was what the pastor spoke on in front of the congregation during alter prayer. He was praying for myself and my children at that time but first he felt the need to humiliate me by speaking down about my appearance and failing marriage. I never returned and I adopted the mentality that all church's were the same.

Well I thank and praise God for the renewing of your mind! My sister! And my prayer is that you have found it in your heart to forgive that Pastor and whomever stood in agreement with him as he passed judgement on you. Remember... Many are called, but only few are chosen Matthew 22:14. PEACE AND BLESSINGS!

God is able to mend your broken heart. Church hurt sometimes is the worse because we believe nobody in the church would hurt us. Church is supposed to be the safe place. Church hurt happens all over the world but God is able to mend and cause restoration.
